When it came time to design a headquarters for Shinesty’s growing employee base, founder and CEO Chris White reached out to local creative agency Maximalist. The aptly named firm, helmed by experiential designer Abigail Plantier, blends storytelling, insatiable curiosity, and bespoke aesthetics to amplify a client’s vision. For Shinesty, this meant transforming a traditional office into a destination, full of groovy art, functional spaces, and quirky objects to serve as living inspiration for employees working on new campaigns and product lines.

To encourage creativity during self-quarantine and raise money for the hospitality industry employee relief fund Another Round Another Rally, a team of creatives started We Create Anyway. Submit your quarantined creative offerings—A song! A painting! A baked good!—for the chance to win cash and prizes.
Launched at the start of widespread social distancing measures, the We Create Anyway contest aims to evoke courage through creativity, even in the face of uncertainty. A call for submissions seeks diverse entries from all over—with no real guidelines for what’s eligible so long as it’s an original creation.
Sat down (and by sat down I mean had a zoom call) with Abigail Plonkey, Founder and Chief Experience Curator at Maximalist and the Mastermind behind Thrice Pop Up, to gain and share insight into the creative process through her eyes.
If Her Name Was Charley—better known as Charley Co.—has anything to do with it, the age of dull Office Space–esque workplaces (greige, sterile, and filled with cubicles) is nearing an end. The women-only coworking space kick-started by Denver entrepreneur Bryn Carter is the exact opposite of meh, with saturated colors and sculptural shapes at every turn.
Chef or Death - Abigail Plonkey is Founder and Chief Experience Curator at Maximalist, where she leads all aspects of the agency, including creative direction, strategy, and experiential design.
